    Scope Mounting Detail

Attached find the detail of scope mounting on the STG. I used a Leupold 1.5-5 vari X III scope because I had it and, wasn't using it, and it was compact so it looked better than a full length scope. Yes, I know a $500 scope on a $10 mount on a $600 rifle is incongruous, but I think I got the scope at the flea market for $30. Anyway, in addition to the scope mount I used a quick detach riser so the scope would clear the iron sights without having to remove them, and used cantilever rings to accommodate eye relief. The rings are solid, so the iron sights are blocked, so if I was doing it over I might look for see through cantilever rings.

      Hi Mark
Thanks for the reply and I apologize for the late thank you! Well seeing your work I went to my closet of goodies and low and behold I have a very old been in the family forever Leupold 1x4 VARI-X II waiting for something to do! Yep as you said a $500 scope so now to see about getting the other items including see through rings.
here are photos of the scope and gun and will keep you posted as the project moves along, a few others to wrap up first so it will be a while!
      Thanks again Mark!
by the way for anyone interested... I did file down the front sight blade which brought my shot groups up considerably so as not to have to run the sight adjustment up to 600-700 meters to hit targets 30 feet out or so. A huge improvement!

For those interested in the GSG STG 44 - I have a sight dedicated to it

This site is just for information about the GSG rifle and not for any profit, and not affiliated with any manufacturer.

I just got one of the GSG MP40-22 and put 100 rounds thru it today.

Had a blast firing it, no issues and very smooth firing.

I would recommend having 2 mags and a sling, 23 rounds go thru quickly and at almost 9lbs the gun got heavy for this 65yr old after 2 hours.

The question I have is about the 5 front sights.

Each has a bump on the side: 1 dot, 2 dot, 3 dot, 4 dot, and 5 dot.

The gun came with the 3 dot sight installed, but we were constantly shooting high at about 25-30 yards, so I changed it to the 1 dot sight and we started hitting the targets.

What range does each dot represent?

Looks odd without the folding stock but NOT as odd as a 16 inch bbl would.
