if it's original isn't it asbestos? I'd mask up when handling it

I've got several. There were many makers, so many little variations but I have never seen such a colourful one, perhaps because all I have seen were used? It is difficult to say if your's is original or not.

Ron, I imagine you know your gunner pouch is for an MG13...Barrel pad would be the same, though.

I get it, here are some new pix of it, it is darker , and under strap is also darker than rest, strap is more yellow than on first two photos.

As I mentioned, it is difficult to determine if your's is original period or not...mostly when it is so new. Construction looks correct and I can imagine domensions are also (12,5cmx17cm?). Having a close look at mine (I've got 5 or 6), you can seen some colour flakes in a couple of them, perhaps not so obvious as they are dirty, SO that would be a good point for your's. But something I have observed on all original (and some fakes or post war) is a cross stitching in diagonal...and the strap is about 2 or 3 cm longer than the width of the pad, is it so on your's?

there is no cross stitching, and strap is not longer than width of the pad, 13cm x 16cm size of pad, thats my first mg pad, but when I have it in hands it looks like it was stithed long time ago.
for me it is also hard to say, thats why I ask, I hope someone will have similar one.

It might just be a post war production, as MGs continued being used after the war in many countries (even in Viet Nam)

Won't it be a repro made put of an old german blanket?
