The question I ask is the viability of this. I have a type 38 action, the barrel has sadly been cut down from the original length, but is still longer than a carbine. My question is, could I have it cut some more, and modified for a type 38 carbine stock and sights? I know the rifle won't be worth as much, but I have a really old, japanese de-mumed school action that I want to hold onto because of it's uncommon history, but want something that looks the part for a shooter, without all the leg work of having a gunsmith change a barrel and head space it. The barrel has good rifling and I have been toying around with this because of the availability of carbine parts
however, I do want to ask, having a machine shop cut and Chanel the for a front sight might be a problem.
I welcome input
