Thanks Steve....Now that was just plain professional and polite. This was a test of the forum for me. I simply asked 1 question in my original thread post. What is the value of the rifle currently. Did not ask for "where are the issues please tell me what is wrong with it. If varnished and lightly sanded my Grandpa missed it. I can take comments but kiss me before you screw me please. I am a foreplay guy or at least my wife tells me Here are the other two other rifles I have. Hoping they are acceptable to the powers that be.

Bought my first 98k in 1968. I've owned a fair number and looked at a lot more since then. I make no claim to be the end all expert, but in my mind there is no doubt that the stock has been sanded and varnished. As mentioned previously, just compare the bolt cutout to a truly mint example and it is obvious. Still a nice 98k, just not completely factory original.

BTW....I know condition on all militaria, whether it was period replaced or post war altered, rarity & what someone will pay is how it rolls so stop pretending I am stupid and your God's Gifts to Collector's. Didn't ask you to assess the rifle. Asked what it is worth in the condition it is in. All I wanted. Not "unfortunately you have a sanded rifle there, blah, blah". BYF45 just gave me a price not his "analysis like" biggdiggs.

Here is my G29o....Does a mismatched bolt on a mauser K98 Luft Steyr make it worth less bigg diggs? If it had the matching bolt would I get more money??? I just don't know? please tell me oh wise man.
