    P.08 lanyard

    This one has been found into a P.08 holster dated 1939.
    Are these lanyard 1 or 2 WW?

        That is the type lanyard normally identified as for the Portuguese Luger, but I have no proof one way or the other.

          I agree with the above response, but will say that I am not sure if that style lanyard is unique to the Portuguese Luger contract (of the 30s or even the 06) or if it was also being made for private purchase sales long before.

          IMO the brass fittings would most likely date it (if German used) to pre or very early WWI......possible made in the 20s-30s and I do not recall if the Portuguese examples were brass or steel fitted.

          At any rate, it seems to be pretty well established that there were no German military issue lanyards for the P.08 although the later P.38 web lanyards could have been used I think.

          I do believe (proven actually in a number of photos from WWI and WWI) that private purchased lanyards with round leather cords were used by some Officers and NCOs)
