assembling a relic MP40

started this project from scratch and just trying to buy the missing pieces apart from any internals or trigger mechanism, I am stuck trying to find the remaining parts, ebay is tricky and sometimes cant recognise what parts some auctions have for mp40 relics have and where it would go etc, and has to be in the same relic condition as the rest of the gun, I cant seem to screw in the barrel nut and the barrel itself so I must be missing something, anyone an idea where I could find the missing parts? would anyone here have anything?

also when I bought the bakelite handgrips the underside says "38" on them, does this mean they are from an MP38 rather than an MP40? hopefully mp38 and 40 side grips are just the same(?) it seemed to fit on it just fine

I think Numrich arms has an exploded view of the MP40 - its very simple and after a while you recognize all the parts -
Google search - mp40 exploded view

Forward sling swivel and ring - is one of the parts you're missing.

Forward sling swivel and ring - is one of the parts you're missing.

You need the folding stock and the magazine release.....Of course you don't have much mag well left to begin with..... Bodes

I used to "build" a MP40 with some parts (in good or relic condition) found on eBay or other websites, here is a picture or how it looked when almost over (it's only missing the front sight hood and the barrel's resting bar, and of course the main spring + bolt parts but even if I got some, they didn't fit into my ground dug receiver).

Just to say I have a pretty good idea of what are internal parts and how to dismount/mount them, so don't hesitate to contact me if you want some help with your restoration project!

P.S. For now I'm restoring a MP44, that's also interesting!

nice one favos looks only semi relic condition, ill never get mine looking as good as that, why is the bakelite so black?

Both foregrip and pistol grips are not ground dug indeed, it's their original color!
You can find quite easily some nice looking original foregrip + pistol grips for less than 200€ for all parts together.

All the metal parts were ground dug anyway, even if I could clean them in a satisfying way (oxalic acid and/or électrolyse - don't know the english word). Here are some pictures of the separate parts.

Tell me if you need some particular parts, I maybe have them in my stock or I can tell you where to find them

I added the barrel nut after I took the picture (it was on its way to France at this moment ^^)
