    duv G43 975

I had a crash course on G43s last night from the internet and still know very little. I acquired this rifle yesterday and it is really dirty 50-60 years of crud but except for the stock being hacked up a little it's pretty nice.
G43 duv 44 serial number 975 with GW ZF4 scope made by ddx serial number 3644 and I'm sure original mount with same serial number slanted script 3644.
The metal is nice all around a lot of finish missing but no rust. Threaded barrel with thread protector. No cleaning rod but does have the original Durofol hand guard. There is one magazine with it marked aye in very good condition. Something I think maybe unusual is there is no number under the bolt handle but on the top of the bolt or cover that is rough coasted there is the number 975 also. The scope and mount are in very very good condition and optics are very clear no clouding. I'm going to clean and disassemble the rifle later and will check for other markings and numbers.

So what is the question or point you were making , or need to know ? There were experiments and improvements done with those rifles bu the several makers who made them...so the marking may be just done that way bu that maker....but sounds like in a short expose you pretty much have most of it down.
Just be sure to upgrade the allen ajustable gas cylinder through apfeltor, and the springs also....so it is safe to shoot. The pressure without the new upgraded parts can always blow these up if it has no mind to.....that's gonna be another 3 hundred or so. Until then....try and find a new stock, but they are like hens teeth to locate....even still if you can find one .... the right butt plates are also very tough to locate....anyway...good luck. please take before and after photos to post here later.

The early rifles have the s/n marking on the top front edge of the bolt carrier.

The serial number 975 is on the front edge of the bolt carrier. I'm not an associate member so I can't post pictures. I did a light cleaning of the rifle today and it looks really nice for 70 years old, the scope and mount are pristine with excellent clarity with no clouding what so ever. I collected Garands and 1903s for 25 years and this is the first German rifle I've owned. I don't plan on keeping the rifle and will let someone enjoy it that collects them.

          Hello and welcome Noworky,

It would be great to see some pics. You can post them in an external server (photobucket or other) and then link them to this thread, or become an Association Member (about $20) and post them directly. Third option would be asking someone to post them for you...

Carles, I would be surprised if he still owns it.....I'm sure his mail box filled up pretty fast after he announced he wasn't going to keep it....Bodes

Still have it and will try to post links to photobucket later. I learned a little more about it from a member here that the stock isn't correct for the rifle which is some consolation for it being hacked by my friends dad who brought it back from WW2 as a trophy.
I also told him that the rifle had harvested many Idaho deer, elk and even a moose. I've owned several M1Cs, M1Ds and 03A4s and this G43 to me is much more complex but still very cool, JMO

It's an original G43 stock that has been altered postwar.....Very fortunate that the original buttplate wasn't replaced and lost.....Bodes

I hope your friend was kind in return.....Your scope and mount were originals.....The mount probably being the nicest part of the whole rifle.....Scope was a Voightlander which were the most common maker of Zf4 scopes.....Durafol hand guards too are always nice.....Your rifle would be a good candidate to blank adapt as it already has the muzzle nut.....Bodes

He's a good friend but selling firearms to both of us is business also he paid a very fair price for the rifle and it mainly was for the scope and mount the rifle was just icing on the cake.
