K98 Safety Lever

Hi,

I have a nice K98 deac but the safety lever has seized/stuck.

Does anyone out there know of a reference that shows how to dismantle/free it?

Hi Mark,

I think it depends on how the rifle was deactivated and what position the safety is stuck.

This is because to disassemble the bolt, the safety lever needs to be in the upright position:

I think that disassembling the bolt is probably your best starting point.

Thanks. I'll check this out now.

The lever is pointing to the left, but I know it will move as it was free when I got it (just didn't clean it regularly enough to realise it was stuck!)

I found on my deac that the safety lever only moves when the bolt has been drawn back but when the bolt is in the closed positon then you cant operate the safety lever. Try operating the lever when the bolt is back
