    FG-42 For Auction in US

Check out Rock Island Auction Company for the mint, scoped second model Fg-42 in the upcomming auction. No shortage of rare military arms in this auction.

Now is the chance for those who want a legal FG-42.

The nice thing is the price will be set by collectors, not dealers.

What make s you think the price will be set by collectors and not dealers? The last fg42 to sell was in the jc devine auction in 09 for 149K with buyer premium...it was purchaced by a dealer..dennis todd..i bid up to 100k myself..another dealer ..liscoe's automatic weapons...the number two bidder was also a dealer

I remember the Devine auction . . . I also remember that just a few weeks later a guy in Alabama popped up on the Subguns and Sturm boards with one for around $100K (maybe it was $110; I can't remember), along with some other NFA items he was liquidating. At the time my thoughts were "wow - big price difference from what we just saw an FG bring at the auction". I don't think the lower-priced Alabama offering was a scam, as the guy gave his full name and contact information, and also indicated that he would be set up with the gun available for inspection at an upcoming Alabama Gun Collectors Association show in Birmingham, so I'm inclined to think it was a legit offering.

Interesting to see the differences guns bring at auction vs. individual sales.

As for the MG market, there is so much control and speculation by the big MG dealers that I would never be interested. Could tell many stories.....

What we need is another amnesty period, but because values would drop it would never be universally supported by the commodity brokers.

No other Auction House makes more money than Rock Island they were sued in the past for inflating their prices....at the same time no other auction house besides Hermann Historica offer better items..

RIA certainly sells some great stuff! Their flyer announcing this weapon had some great items. A good friend of mine sold many superb pieces from his collection through them a few years ago.

That is correct. About a month later one poped up on subguns for 110K and sold in a week...then another about a month later on subguns for 95K..that one dropped to 85K a month later and never sold...i probaly could have got it for 75K? Owners were probaly watching the auction to get a price so they can sell their guns.....i am glad my fever subsided before then...i like to tell the story because here you have a gun that sold for 149K , seen its value drop 50% in 3 months...bad investment...it will be a long time before you can sell that gun out-right...i believe Dennis did get rid of it...i think he traded it off for a bunch of mg's and stuff...that would be the only way to get that kind of cash back...

How much would an early 1st Pattern FG42 shooter go for these days?
