          Hi Bill,

Very interesting box!! I have never seen one before. It is curious that they would have packaged that round in a 14 round box or 15, for that matter. Didn't the magazines hold 32? Seems that 16 would have been more practical. 2 boxes = 1 loaded mag. I can understand 15 because of the standard 5 round stripper. I don't have a 8mm kurz weapon so I don't know if you can strip the rounds directly into the magazine or not. Do you know?

          Regards, Leon

Yes, the kurz rounds can be loaded using regular 7.92 stripper clipsand the stamped steel mag loader directly into the magazine. All the mag loader does is hold the stripper clip so you can push the rounds of ammo in.

MP44 magazines are 30 round capacity, the MP40 mags are 32 round.

Leon, I have had several MP43,44, and stg44s that I shot regulary the magazines cannot be loaded with out the aid of a magazine loading tool which fit onto the magazine and accepted the 5 round charger, then it was very simple to load the magazine, but the magazine beeing double stacked was a lot eaiser to load than the mP40 mag. .. Do you collect German ammo if so let me know by PM I have a cd you might like to have..Magazines for the MP 43 series held 30 rnds..That 14 round box has puzzeled me for many years, no idea why a 14 rnd.. box.. I can see a 15 and 20 round box but a 14rnd??????? BILL

Bill, I have a box of Kurz, Sturmgewehr ammo on the 5-round stripper clips....3 stripper clips per box(15 rounds)....My question is why the stripper clips? Was this ammo earmarked for use with the K98k which accepted the kurz cartridge?...Or was this just the "norm" for issuing rifle ammunition?... Bodes

BODES, It was more than likely the norm for ammo, but there was a loader for the MP43 magazines, which accepted the 5 round charger/stripper clip.. I think that the Kurz ammo on the clips is much less frequent than the loose rounds in boxes.. are you a german ctg. collector as well if so PM me..The 98k which took the kurz ctg. was far and few between expermintal---BILL

                      Best Regards

Wow, that is way cool! I have never seen a 14 round box for 7.92 x 33 before. And here I was about to jump on John for claiming 14, and not 15, rounds are in it. It does not make any sense to me as to why though.

I have loaded MP44 mags by hand without the tool, much easier than a MP40 mag.

I also collect boxed German ammo, have about 120 boxes or so..from common to less common..missing some of the rare ones.

Only a original box with 15 rounds in 3 clips.
                              I wish I had a 14 round box....
