I think you can go around this by either classifying it as a pistol (no under folding stock) or as a legal semi rifle by putting a longer barrel on it.
I'll have to check the laws in RI. I'd really like to keep as many of the original parts on it as possible so I don't think I'll change the barrel...

        He's correct, about 4 to 6 months

          OK, here ya go.

The Unique canes is the quicker assembly.
The Philly Ord will require cutting/flattening/filing of the flat spot at the mid top to mount the rear sight and silver soldering in place. cutting the notch for the lock lug and a relief hole for the mag. You'll need to remove the trunion from the orig. receiver piece and have it machined round to fit the dummy recievr. using the lower rec locked onto the dummy tube and mag well indexed into the lower and tube mark the location of the cross pin hole; disassemble and drill dummy. cross pin the trunion and mag well into/onto the tube only...don't have it welded or silver soldered. That's about as far as you can go without running into problems with legalities DO NOT cut the ejection hole, the bolt handle slot, ejector hole and the sear hole as this would render it a functional unregistered recievr.

          Cheers
