Hello, can you tell me which was created first, the buttstock with the wire wraps or the large metal band and what sort of date range would they be?

Hello, the wire wraps or the sheet tin metal versions are both just reinforcements of the standard wooden stock, so I believe either type of reinforcement could've been added if the stock showed signs of splitting. Which type would've been used, I would say would depend on what material they had available to repair it with so you can't date them specifically to particular date as far as I know.... Patrick

In the late war period the buttstock often was delivered with the metal band, factory added!
