    Cleaning Rod

A 10" cleaning rod, apparently from an early K Date K98k. It has the last two digits of the serial number, the early scriptic S, and a K. Above the K it also has an eagle with a number I cannot make out.

Reaally cool Johnny, showing my ignorance here, --- How many of those old K dates would there be around?? You have the rifle to go with it?? ;-)

      Ronnie,

Would really love to have one of the K date K98k rifles, but the cleaning rod is all I have. Came from one of the old Houston Astro Hall shows years ago.

I think total production for the K date was between 20,000 and 25,000.

The "K" on the rod does not represent a date. It stands for "Karabiner" in order to differentiate it from a Gew98 rod.

I can't speak for the K98k, but the scriptic S inspection stamp was only used on the very early K date P.08's. It was quickly changed to the gothic S.
