    Un-ka-nown pistol!

I was out garage saling yesterday and hiting the same old dry hole when someone said they had an American military pistol that their father had brought home. Don't get your hopes up. I did and was disappointed!
I found no markings on this revolver, other then a 2 on the front of the cylinder.
Does anyone know what it is? I got 4 pics with my camera phone in the front hallway, with the front door open and sunlight streaming in.
Is it worth anything? I think the cylinder gate was missing on the right side and there is a ding under the barrel where the disassembly rod is.
    Thanx,
    Tim

Forehand & Wadsworth New Model Army. Does barrel look cut off?

Is there a gash in the ejector mechanism as well?

          Yes, a gash.
That's what I meant by "a ding under the barrel where the disassembly rod is".
          I phrased it poorly.
Is this thing worth anything in this condition? I honestly couldn't say if the barrel was shortened or not because I didn't know what I was looking at in the first place!
          Thanx,
          Tim

I'd personally relegate it to the "decorator" category.

I hope you managed to acquire it; the Forehand and Wadsworth Army's are rare, expensive, and quite desirable revolvers.

No, didn't get it. Not sure if it is really desirable in this shape, which I can only describe as 'relic'. These are supposed to be marked in 9 or 10 places. I couldn't find a number or word stamped into it anywhere. The one exception, as I noted, was the '2' on the front face of the cylinder. The pictures that I found of it after it was identified, show the barrel as being longer. 6 & 1/2 inches was the standard, and I believe this one has been cut down, for whatever reason.

Agree that one doesn't have enough condition or originality to be desirable.

                      All depends on the price
