Czech Model 38
That is the German Holster for the captured Czech Model 38. The German designation was P 39 t.
The mag pouch has an extra piece of leather because the 38 mag is smaller. The holster is correct and is cut like that to fit the Czech pistol...Nice holster.Last edited by jack944; 06-22-2014, 01:06 PM.

Yep, it is based on a P-38 hardshell holster, not on the P-08 Luger one.

This is just so much BS. The holster was made to fit the Czech pistol with NO cut leather.
No one has said they cut a P-08 or a P-38 holster to fit a Czech pistol. We have said it is based on a P-38 holster and it is cut that way so the Czech pistol fits well.

What I implied here was it was cut/manufactured like that originally....not later.
And that is incorrect. The P-39 holster was made fully enclosed like the P-38 or the Luger and employed a lifting strap to bring the pistol high enough to grasp the front grip strap and remove it.
The cut shown here is a BUBBA cowboy cut and essentially ruins this P-39 holster. It was certainly NOT made this way originally.

This is incorrect as well. The P-39 holster looks very much like a P-38 but with the magazine pouch spacer added, a slightly different contour and P-39 markings. These P-39 holsters were made specifically for the Czech pistol. The Czech P-39 fits very well..no need to cut anything.
This cutaway portion does certainly affect/decrease the value of this otherwise nice holster. If there is any silver lining it is that even P-39 holsters in good original shape bring much less money that a comparable P-38. I suspect it's because the P-39 pistol is less desirable/collectable.
