    Krieghoff Double Barrelled Flare Gun

    Guys

    here's my latest pickup, a 1942 manufactured Flieger-Leuchtpistole L. by Krieghoff.

I found it entirely by accident, dropped in to see a friend at a local militaria store. An "old guy" who collected flare guns had come in to sell some by consignment and although the two he had on him got snapped up by my friend, he had more at home that he wanted to sell.

Apparently he was moving into a retirement home that isn't gun friendly so his loss is my gain.

    Cheers
    Geof

That is a nice looking "L". Good score for your collection.

Above the grip plate, barrel and safety lever, you can se a small damage.
Probably caused by grenade fragments, perhaps the aircraft was perforated by grenade Shells and Downed. Nice flare gun,if it could talk

I would not like to invent history for this flare gun, it is what it is. But you are correct, there are a couple of deep ragged "chips" in the aluminium, not likely caused by being dropped or roughly handled. Who knows? It is still awesome and looks great next to my Cogswell & Harrison MkIII
