Opinions needed on Walther Model 2 Pistol

I would be grateful for opinions on this pistol which I am considering purchasing. The magazine seems to be missing as do some other parts. I realise that this may not be the correct forum to post this, but cannot seem to locate a more appropriate one, and would be happy for the moderator/s to relocate this if a more appropriate forum exists.
I would also be grateful if anyone could advise me if this is legal in the UK without being deactivated.
    I attach some pics.
    Thanks,
    Peter.

I was a little reticent in posting this in a WWII item forum, since it seems to have been manufactured in the Imperial period, around 1915 I think. Since there is no Imperial firearms forum, I thought that I might post it here. However, I have seen an account that states that some German officers used this particular pistol in WWII.

From looking at the photos I would have to say from the condition of the pistol it is really not worth fooling with and on top of that if it is missing ANY parts you will have an almost impossible time locating them for this pistol. As to UK registration , I cannot help you on that.

I am not aware of the collecting circumstances or how hard collectible firearms are to find in Wales, but that just seems to be missing too much and too rough to fool with.

Peter it will be still classed as live firing weapon in UK. Even in its present state as it has not been deactivated. So to answer Your question illegal to own with out relevant license.Incidently I believe the German tank ace Michael Whitman carried one of these in His tunic pocket.

Peter, Under UK firearms law this will, as lew07 said, still be classed as a live firearm. As a pistol it falls under Section 5 of the Firearms Act and as such is a prohibited weapon=5 years in jail for being in possession.

                Personally I'd walk away.

                Matt.

Thanks Bill, Johnny, Lew07 and Matt,
It is a pity that there are a couple of bits missing, because it seems to be quite an interesting weapon, which possibly is quite rare.
The fact that it is still classed as a live weapon surprises me since it was manufactured before 1919, but I suppose that it is still possible to purchase ammunition for it.
It would probably be prohibitively expensive to put it through the deactivation process, which can only be done through a licensed gunsmith I believe.
I had no idea that you could be jailed for this, which certainly is something to bear in mind, and clearly would not be worth risking.
                  Thanks,
                  Peter.

The model 2 is an old pistol and a quite rare one and was produced from about 1909 and is .25 calibre which is produced still today which is the sticking point .

                      Thanks Lew07,
I wonder what it would cost to put it through the deactivation process?
                      Thanks,
                      Peter.

Looking at the pics again, I notice a hole in one side of the pistol. Is this normal for this type of pistol or is it a type of deactivation? Could anyone advise?
                        Thanks,
                        Peter.

                            Thanks Nick,
I gather that it is the hole for the missing cartridge extractor pin.
