With the help and comments of other forum members, it could be said that before beeing deactivated, this rifle has been rechambered (french hunting caliber? After the war?) by shortening the barrel - and turning (about 1/2 turn) the base of the barrel, that would mean that the location of the marks, if authentic, has changed. The serial number could have been above the woodline (in line with the one on the left of the receiver). This "SS" stamp would also have moved, and was then before just above the woodline on the right, close to the receiver - and visible! That would be more plausible than an SS stamp completely concealed on the bottom of the barrel.
