    K98 wooden stocks

Hi All, just wondering if anybody rebuilds K98's anymore?
I have the stock, no barrel, bolt, etc., is there any interest in these?
Also i was told mine is dufflebag cut one, GI's did to fit in there bags, if true, i don't know.
No pics yet, just asking first
    Thank You.
    Regards,
    Gary

Depending on condition, type and markings etc, there's lot of interest in nice K98 stocks!

Unfortunately.... duffle bag cut stocks are NOT in demand (except for any parts)
so if it's been cut (usually at the barrel band) it's pretty much only a "poorman's substitute" (sometimes can be professionally repaired but costs are prohibitive...cheaper to buy a good stock in the first place. (except if everything was matching otherwise!)

The barrel, receiver and bolt will cost much more than the value of a badly mixed #s M98.......

      Don't waste your time...

I disagree. Duffle cut under the rear band K98k stocks are in demand, can be cost effectively repaired and depending on the craftsman almost seamlessly. A sanded full stock is in most cases less desirable as markings have been damaged and cannot be repaired. Scott

No outside markings, so it probably was sanded
            Some markings inside though.

If you don't have the part that was cut off it is of very little use.

I'm sure there is some use Wilhelm, most anything can be fixed as stated above,
                    wood craftsmen could work something?
Not every country can have full functional weapons, right?
Even some US citizens who are felons can't.
Might be a good project for someone with wood skills, i don't know, thats why i asked
                    Regards,

                      Ruhl13,
Wilhelm is correct....There's NO WAY this stock can be repaired or restored to "original".... much cheaper to buy a complete stock (I bought a nice "early" German M-98 stock with all the hardware for around $100.00 last year... off eBay.)

Yes, a simple duffle bag cut can be "restored", it would depend on the "rest of the rifle" whether it's better restored or replaced.... but in all cases it's a depriment...

You take what you get.... obviously.... but this one will never be more than a "display example/shooter" at best.

John, never said it can be restored as "original", nothing can, but it can be of use to someone with some work, display piece, shooter, or whatever.
Maybe someone has parts at home but no stock, you found one on ebay, congrats!
There's nothing wrong with display pieces are there?
                        Regards,
                        Gary

Agree - no hope for repair to collectible condition. But as indicated perhaps a good choice for someone with an action for shooting or hunting.
