    P38 Zero series

Just got my hands on a 3rd model zero series P38. Great condition but it has been re-blued. All the markings are clear and sharp, no pitting under the finish. The magazine is late war and not matching to the pistol. Any ideas on the current value?

    Thanks,

Hard to say! Pics would definitely help. Is it all matching? Is it a cold blue? I'd still say around $1500 or so, but that's just me, depending. http://www.checkpointcharlies.com/ has some reblued examples although they try to adhere to wartime standards, it seems. Great site!

      Thanks Lev,

The P38 looks good but no colors for the sight or safety.

For what it is worth: About 10 years or so ago Doug Smith (operating under "FGS, Inc.") was getting around $1,600 - $1,800 for his all-matching Russian "dipped" Zero series guns. These guns had all matching numbers and original correct Zero series grips. Also, they were either very lightly import marked on the frame under the grips or not import maked at all (so you did not have the distraction of the very heavy import marks found on many P.38's of that time period). Also, with the Russian "dipped" refinish, the guns were not buffed or polished so all markings were correct, crisp and intact. Further, unlike the Russian 98k's, the P.38's did not have the electopenciled numbers scratched on them or any other markings added.
