    K98 high turret sniper

I have a K98 high turret sniper. How to I tell the year of mfg. and who the maker was? The scope mount covers the maker mark and year and I do not want to remove mount.

Harvey, there are some sharp guys here who can help. For starters what is the serial number and WaA stamp on the left side of the receiver below the front base? A Sauer (ce) rifle generally has a "WaA37" in front of a 4-digit serial number with a letter, while a Mauser (byf) generally has a "WaA135" after a 5-digit serial number. Obviously there are other ways to tell but this is a start.
