Sauer pistol model H-what year?

Have the opportunity to pick up a Sauer pistol Model M with holster and 2 magazines. Before I take a gander at it I would like to know about what year it was made. The serial # is in the 268900 range.
Have checked all types of websites but they don't record the serial #'s and dates only changes made to the gun by approximate year.
Can anyone date this gun?

How reads the slide legend? From the sn i guess mid war.

Per Jan Still's book, they started production of the Model H in late 1939. Serial numbers started at 260,000 and the first 10,000 were commercial. So odds are that yours is a commercial model and was made in late 1939 or early 1940.

I stand corrected
I checked my reference books now and (approx.) sn range is 260.000 - 510.000. Production starts at a small scale in 1938. From 1940 production rates go up and end in 1945 with approx. 244.000 pieced made.
They can be commercially, police or army marked.
