1940 Flieger leuchtpistole with bullet hole

Just got this in from a trade.
It was found in Holland and got what it looks like a rifle bullet hole.
It is a bit rough, I think someone has messed with it in the past. The barrel sellector is loose, there are missing 2 small screwes and it's cocking very difficult.
I took it apart very gently and cleaned everything, but something is loose or wrong with the mechanism.

Maker is Ecko 1940 serial 4665. under the selector is a stamp with a eagle and shield with Suhl above it.

What do you guys think?

Congrats on finding a great battle damaged item! IMO I would remove any replaced parts and let it remain damaged and imperfect as it would have been recovered from the battlefield. Repairing it only serves to devalue its history.

But the person who found it in/after the war has been messing with it. Inside I can see a new nut and a new screw. plus he did something to the barrel selector, which now turns free.
So it would be fair to restore it back to working conditions with original components, that are missing in the first place.
