    98K value

    Hi Folks,
I have this refurbished 98k that a fella wants to buy. I was hoping that I could get some guesstimates on value. It is a BYF 44 that has been reblued and put into an original stock. It was originally in a Czech stock. There are no import stamps and all numbers are matching on the metal parts. The only parts that are repros are the sight hood on the front and the nose cap. Appreciate any help!

the pitting you see here was on the rifle before when I got it before it was reblued.

If it's any help, a friend sold a nice matching byf 44 this weekend for $1400.

Most of the imports at the last gun show I was at were bringing 350 to 400. I would expect somewhere around there. I don't believe it would bring the 1400, due to the reblue

It doesn't have the right stock either....Should have one that takes a cupped buttplate....Bodes

                      I would watch Gunbroker.

I am in California and we seem to pay a premium for anything of interest here. As such and considering it is re-blued, the stock is sanded (without Waffen markings) and not correct (not a cupped butplate), the apparent pitting before rebluing, visible rust (inside receiver area), reproduction sight hood, lack of period sling; I would not pay more than $570 for this rifle. What is a nose cap? You never mention the condition of the bore. This is also a factor.

Thanks for the input fellas. This was just a crapped out gun that a buddy refurbished that I was going to use for reenactments... which I never have been able to attend. Didn't think of Gunbroker . The nose cap is the cap piece at the end of the foregrip.

You are correct that it won't bring $1400, but that is the top of the bracket for an all matching original byf 44 gun show sale.

I purchased a Russian Capture CE 43 at the SOS for $390. The receiver and stock numbers matched but the rest did not and it came with an original sling as well.

Prior to the SOS I purchased a complete all matching DOU 44 estate sale buy with capture paper in very good unmessed condition with the original sling for $1,500

I would say that yours is correctly priced between $350 to $400 since it is reblued and has an incorrect stock. etc. If you get more than that
