MP43/44 for review

Been looking for mp44 for ages. Have chance to get this one.
Photos are not the best.
What you guys think? worth going for?

It's been reworked for post war use......Barrel has been replaced and the handguard may be a reproduction......Bodes

There is a long muzzle '43 nut in auction on GB right now -

Nice piece - great in any UK collection I would imagine - great serial number 1111

I am in the US so there is no relative price comparison.
We have C&Rs, rewats, Post Samples and legal semi conversions, and then parts kits.
With parts kits the lowest priced starting around $3K

The "long" MP43 type muzzle nut won't be of any benefit to this particular firearm; it is not appropriate for the MP44 type "stepped" barrel or the MP44 type front sight post/gas block.

I may have made an error in my post, above. Here is a photo of what the barrel, front sight block and "long" type muzzle nut are supposed to look like on an MP43/I. The photo is from MP43/I #356c (dated "43").

The gun in question, however, is not an MP43/I so I was thinking of the wrong firearm when I originally posted. Reflecting on the matter, I seem to recall looking at some SN data, as well as reading in the Collector Grade book "Sturmgewehr!" (by Hans-Dieter Handrich) that some of the "MP43" marked guns have the "stepped" barrel; "short" front sight block, and the "short" muzzle nut. So, it may very well be that the barrel and related parts on the gun in question are factory original.

Cool, thanks, Alan - I am not an expert, I just saw the MP43 marking and scope rail on the rear sight, and presumed it could do with a replacement nut - I know they mixed everything up towards the end, and variations in finish and type were made often.

There is no scope rail, these are only found on the MP43/1 - but other than that a very nice MP43!!

There were a few improvements when they moved from the MP43/1 to the MP43.
Amongst them (and not limited to):

MP43 no scope rail -
MP43/1 scope rail.

MP43 short muzzle nut and front sight base that could accept grenade launcher - MP43/1 solid front sight base and long muzzle nut.
