    Browning and Radom Holsters

    Hello,
    I have a Waffenampted Browning Model 1922 ( .380 Auto version) pistol and tommorrow I will be picking up a Waffenampted Polish Radom (Early Version). Unfortunalty both of them do not have the holsters or the spare mag to go with them.

    I was wondering how easy it would be to aquire these two holsters and Mags and what the approximate cost for each would be. Also could someone post some pictures of these items as well to aid in my search? If there is anyone out there that can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

    Just noticed the other thread on the Browning 1922 and had a few questions. My 1922 does not have the MR that was talked about in that post but it does have the (H). It is also Waa140 but it is in .380 as stated above and It has the black plastic grips. It also says in one of the posts on that thread that there was only 3000 made in this calibre so does that make it rare? The serial # is 83xxxa, can anyone tell me what the approximate date of Manufacture is?

      CAM, Try Robert Zimkas for these two holsters I think he has both for sale.. Your 9M/M kurtz M1922 was assembled in 1940 these were the first of the 1922 model to be assembled for the Germans, when these parts ran out production of the 7.65 model was started...wfg

        Bill, Thanks for the help. I will PM Robert. Another question. The 7.65 mags say it right on them, were there any specific markings on the 380 mags?

          Cam, Yes the mags were marked 9m/m with out the k for short.. PM me I may have a extra 7.65mm magazine.. BILL

            Cam,

            First off, both the Browning 1922, and Radom P35 holsters are fairly easy to find. You can even find minty (un-issued) Luftwaffe drop holsters for the Browing 1922! Lately I've been seeing more and more Radom holsters pop up for sale. In the past it was difficult to find one minty, but now it seems much easier. If your not looking for minty, then both these holsters are easy to find, well used as well.

            For the Browning there are several different types of holsters as well as makers to choose from. The Krieghoff marked drop holsters are the most popular, and expensive. Several other makers made the drop holsters as well though. You can also find pebble grain soft shell holsters, as well as late war ersatz, and even combination ersatz/leather drop holsters for these!(somewhat rare)

            For the Radom there really is only one type of holster, but several makers and even colors to choose from. The most demanding ones are the earliest dates, and Brown color (not dyed). The most common ones are the "BNZ 1944", some are brown, while some have been dyed black. 1945 dated ones are also high sought after!

            Your next question about the 9mm Browning 1922. Yes, these are pretty rare, if they are original Nazi proofed! They only made about 3,200 of these, and the serial range is from 64000-77800 with no letter suffix!!!! (a few 7.65mm are mixed in with this serial range)
            I'm afraid yours being serial number 83xxxa puts it way behind this serial range!
            Also all the 9mm Browning 1922 pistols that are Nazi proofed will be marked with the earlier, "eagle/WaA613". Yours is marked with the much later, "eagle/WaA140". I'm sorry to say, but your pistol does not sound correct. Check the serial numbers! They should be located on right frame, underneath slide, on right chamber, and on right side of slide extension.
            Since these 9mm ones are all early pistols, they will all have high polished finish, and black plastic grips.

            Also, yes the magazines are all marked, "FN 9mm". Also the date of manufacture of your pistol, going by the serial number you gave, would be mid war, probably 1943. (not 1940 as stated earlier!)
            It should have military blued finish, and checkered walnut grips. Should be 7.65mm, not 9mm!

The pistol as you said does not fit the serial number and waffenampt of the 380 auto but it is highly polished and it does have original black plastic grips. I have not fired it yet but my friend who sold it to me has fired it in 380 auto. Nothing on it seems to have tampered and it appears to be all original. I am no expert on these weapons so I will try and post some pics of it so you can take a look.

              Now for my Radom the serial is 8596xxx with no suffix and it is the early type still retaining the saftey. Its waffen ampt is 77. Do you know the approximate year it was made? This way I can decide on what specific holster to buy

                We definately need picts of both never known a Radom with such a long SN.. The bbl. could have been replaced in the m22 BILL

                              Browning 1922

                              Cam,

                              I would recommend you get a copy of " The Belgian Browning Pistols " by Anthony Vanderlinden. The book will give you a very straight forward review of the browning 1922's and their variations.

                              I agree with Matt that it does not " fit the box " BUT I would not be too quick to assume anything... you would not be the first person to find an oddity or unknown version etc.

                              I think you should take a peek at the book I have recommended and then even send detailed pic's to Mr. Vanderlinden

                              I would invite you to send me a scan of the back of the grips as the Germans did produce a " Bakelite " version of the grip and by seeing the molding pattern I can tell you if it was " Wartime " German production.
