    new p38 byf 42

HI all, I just picked up a p38 byf, with 42.
it is marked waffenampt 135 with serial no 7826 no suffix letter, from what my books tell me it is from the first 10,000 gun run, all matching, the right side of the slide has eagle over emblem and one eather side is waffenampt with 135.
the only thing that is marked waffenampt over 359 is the magazine, and the top sheet steel plate that covers the top of the slide just before the rear sight.

It has been reblued at some point and has small import marks very fine on the underside of the back beavertail for the hammer, I almost missed it when looking at it. it is nhm co. sacca. 9mm germany, one could almost emry cloth it off and touch up the blue, over all in nra very good condtion.

rifiling is in very good condtion.
grips are in good condtion, no missing parts.

My question is with the import marks in a obscure place and very light and the rebluing, but also in account that this is a very rare variant of p38, in that it is a first run byf, which if I am not mistaken there were only 15,000 produced in 42.
I paid only 485.00 dollars for it. was this a fair price?

I would agree with Bill here. A "byf42" is a pretty rare P38, however, since it is an re-blued import, then that explains why the price is so low.
