    K 43 Direct Vet Purchase

    All:
Purchased the K43 in the attached images directly from the Vet in the US who brought it back. He indicated they stormed/attacked a house full of enemy troops and took the house from the enemy troops and that the" @#$%^" house was full of these rifles so he "liberated" one. After purchasing and fully inspecting rifle, the stock still contained the user instructions and spare parts. Enjoy the photos! All numbers match, only issue is a small split in the bottom of the stock, however, with the history who cares!

              Electro pencil ?

Hello Sir and Happy New Year,

The part in photo nine appears to have been electro penciled.

This is most interesting as I have never seen an original german weapon with WWII electro penciled serial numbers.

Of course we are all familiar with the Russian capture guns and their forced matched parts, and I am not suggesting this is not original or from the Vet, just that I have never seen it before.

              Regards Craig.

                Craig:
It took me almost 35 years to get this vet to sell this rifle, Not to date myself, saw it when I was a young teenager and with the stories is what started my interest in militaria, it also came with helmets, badges, pole tops etc. Everything he brought back, all has checked out 100%. I have seen other k-43's with electro penciled serial numbers on parts as well. It is also indicated in Weavers book "Hitlers Garands". The action cover is also correctly stamped with WaAA44.
Have seen electro pencil marks on gas cylinders etc, Again all mentioned in the aforementioned book.

Fantastic - pretty much all my favorite pieces have come from patience and politeness.

35 years is a little longer than I have waited - but judging by the pics it was worth the wait.

The action cover, gas parts under hand guard, and bolt internals all have electro penciled serial numbers.....Bodes

Indycollector, I also have a 'qve45' K43.....It is pretty much like yours, only mine has a milled action cover....Also has the ZFK43 on the buttstock below the scope rail....I haven't looked at mine in some time but also believe it's an "e" block....Interesting too that yours has the wooden handguard and not the durafol one.....I believe they switched back and forth on these depending on supply.....Congratulations on your patience, it certainly paid off.....Bodes

Great story and a great piece. In regards to electro-pencil on german arms from the period...My 1944 Mauser HSC KM has an electro peniciled serial number under the slide.

Nice. BTW the electropencil numbers are German-style characters so I think it's safe to assume that the vet/OP is telling the truth!
