    high capacity magazines - california

    Hi All
    need a quick answer here is it legal to send a high capacity magazine 30/32 rounds, to California from England uk????

      The "People's Democratic Republic of California" is very particular about its weapons' laws/restrictions. I do not believe that "high capacity" magazines are legal in such State. While I don't know the exact legal definition of "high capacity magazines" in California, I would be willing to bet that a 30 / 32 round magazine easily falls within such definition.

            100% NO . I work in a gun store in California and it is not allowed to import any magazines over 10 rounds.

              Indeed the federal ban was lifted. California had set laws to make sure that if the ban did expire they would have laws in place that exceed the federal laws. The states requirements for gun laws must meet the federal laws. Since California's laws meet and exceed the federal laws then that is ok with the feds.

                  State Laws like NJ and CA have banning large cap magazines and an erronious definitions of "Assault weapon" trump any federal ban.So to speak plainly when the federal band thankfully died recently those two states STATE LAWS regarding such items did not , and are still enforced. It would take an act of god to get those two whacky states to rescind such ludicrous laws and it won't happen anytime soon being they are bastions for demoslobs and massive vote fraud in that party's direction.

                      New York State has such a ban in place, and New York City is even more intense with their laws.

                      What is interesting is that it doesn't apply to deactivated guns. Doesn't do you much good if you actually want to fill up the magazine for shooting I suppose.

                        oh damn, that was a federal ban on all states? even texas??

                        whoa, when did that get in like 1994? that was clinton and what? columbine? is that what justified the "assualt rifle" and hi cap ban?

                        so cali and a few others have their own state-imposed bans now that the nation-wide ban was lifted?

                        (sorry i know little of this, i'm an aussie after all !)

                          Individual states and even cities can place their own bans and even after the Assault Weapon Ban many states did go forward with bans. But it was a confusing law that prohibited the manufacture and sale of certain items, like high capacity magazines...but it didn't make those purchased previously illegal. Hence some states came in and banned them completely. In New York City for example they placed a ban on those items in 1993 and an "assault weapon" had to be removed from the city or handed in.

                          I think this is the big fear...eventually some guns could fall into the "hand in" category. You are required to hand in a firearm yet don't get any compensation.

                            While the AWB was lifted in the country, bacause of New york State's law, all of my assault weapons have to be pre-94. Isn't that odd? If it was made before 1994 I won't go out and kill people, but watch out! If i buy a new "assault weapon" here I come!
