    Legalities of panzerschreck in USA

I might have a chance to buy a panzerschreck, I want to make sure it has been properly deactivated. Can someone show pics so I know "exactly" what to look for, not worth taking chances.
    Thanks!

The problem might be your local law. Deactivation specifications change from one country to another so you should find out what those are in Mexico. I guess the tube should be cut along or have some hole , or even have some metal bar welded inside the tube...not easy to say.

    Un saludo,

    Carles

Yeah, I believe here in the states an unregistered one has to have a hole in the side equal to the size of the bore.....Than have rods welded in an 'X' pattern inside the bore....Some where I heard the magneto needed to be deactivated, but not sure on that.....Bodes

Sorry for the confusion! I live in the US, does anyone know for sure what ATF requires? I think they have a knee mortar also, if anyone can provide pics it would be greatly appreciated!
          Thanks again!

To thicken the soup, regs vary from state to state.

For instance you could not have it in Illinois.

That includes DEWAT MGs as well.

It needs the hole in it the size of the bore with the 2 rods welded in it. I am pretty sure you can not own a DD version in NY.

The rods must also be welded in place to prevent the insertion of a round into the tube.

What would the value of a dewat Panzerschreck be, currently?

                          Hello,

A friend sold one last year for $4,200 with Shield. The hole was under the shield.

                            Thanx Fred.
I’m hearing prices all over the chart, from my research.
I.M.A. is sold out if them and they were advertised at $5995!!! Crazy!
I also heard of an auction house that was getting $1500 to $2000.

If the potential purchaser is located within the state of New York, he darn sure better get familiar with any applicable state laws! What is being discussed in this thread pertains only to steps that can be taken to remove a "Destructive Device" from the controls of the National Firearms Act of 1934 (i.e. federal law).

Just because the Panzerschreck might be "deactivated" so as to remove it from federal restrictions, does not automatically make the item legal to own in all 50 states.

New York law is not exactly know for being friendly towards owners of firearms or other implements of war, so I would take a very close look to make sure you are up to speed on any constraints mandated by New York law.
