IMO except for the faint eagle applied to the laminated stock above the 'L' (all not contemporary to S42G factory production) other markings I see appear as if applied last week. That and along with many other red flags the Bubba who applied the markings misspelled Fallschirmjager. In this case Bubba appears to be an imbecile of epic proportions.

My first thoughts also. Turns out to be a very nice, all matching , S/42G with matching stock as well. Silly move on someones part to try to enhance an already valuable rifle. Thanks for the help.

Yet another nice piece degraded in an obvious and shameless attempt at enchancing its value...

I doubt very much that this stock is original to an S/42g. It appears to be a laminated stock which is much too early for a "G" date and the eagle above the "L" appears to be straight winged which is also incorrect for a "G" date.

It might be worth trying to steam the markings and see if you can remove them. If nothing else, you might be able to raise them enough that a light sanding will finish the job. Better than looking at that disaster... some people are such idiots
