    MP43 / MP44 US Military Capture /Send Home Paper

Wondering if anyone has the deactivated MP43 / MP44 with serial number 8482 d44 fxo cos. I have the WWII 1945 US Army capture paper / send home customs form for it, has all soldier and unit info and is a larger 8 1/2 x 11 sheet and has all the rifle info and states its rendered deactivated. Rifle is long gone from veteran and I have just this paper.
    Please PM me.

Sounds like you need to become a part time investigator and figure out what happened to the gun. Was it registered? If not the paperwork you have could turn a $3k of parts (after demil) into a gun that can be registered and be worth $15K+/-. Paperwork is everything! Find that gun! Good luck!

Have you contacted the owner of the website (Mr. Esperholdt) to see if he has records of where/how he obtained the serial number at issue? I know that a number of U.S. collectors have provided information to Mr. Esperholdt on guns held in U.S. collections, as my MP43/1 is on his list (the prior owner provided it to Mr. Esperholdt several years ago).

I suspect that the current owner would probably be excited about being able to reunite the original bring-back paperwork with his gun. The important matter is, of course, the history documented in the paperwork, so even if you only gave the current owner a copy of what you have you would be doing quite a "good deed" in preserving the history with the gun.

Have you done a post on the "NFA Discussion" sub-forum of the Subguns.com website? This is probably the most visited site by U.S. collectors of NFA items, so I bet if you did a post with a title that included the model of the gun; full serial number and maker/date, along with something like "Original Bring-Back Papers Located" you would vastly increase your chances of locating the current owner.

If you post enough details on Subguns.com, I think you have a really good chance of tracking down the current registrant. Also, the fact that the SN is recorded on Mr. Esperholdt's website is a really good sign, as it suggests that the gun's current owner may be internet savy which, again, increases your chances that a properly titled post on Subguns.com might catch the current owners' eyes.

Good luck and please keep us posted on your admirable efforts.
