                  Thanks for the positive response. I used to collect these back in the 60's and had a fairly large collection. Often regret selling them but the prices started going up and good matched 98k's were becoming really tough to find even back then. I just wanted to own one very nice 98k and was fortunate to get this one at a very good price.

                            Perhaps my eyes but can't positively determine from the pics what letter range this byf is in and if the front and rear bands are serial numbered?

                              The letter range is "c" so it is an earlier production. The front band is #'d and the rear band has faint # on it, the front band is matched to the rifle.
