Andor, You have a P38 that has certainly been there......Your holster shows modification with extra loops added to the backside......I would guess this was done post war, but cannot say for sure....Also the original loops have been reinforced on the bottoms.....It is also missing the "lift strap" which was attached inside the flap....As for the pistol, it is a 1942 date, so it likely could've seen alot of action....This is apparent by the pitting on the trigger guard.....The only thing I don't recognize is the number next to the WaA under the barrel (above the trigger guard).....Bodes

I have never seen the take down lever numbered before. Was that frequent?

I would think maybe early Walther ones might be numbered.....

btw.....I just noticed the holster isn't marked "P38"......Bodes

Takedown lever doesn't look like it came in that pistol. Area around the TD is heavily pitted, but TD isn't. Different font.

Non matching numbers, postwar modified holster and forced matched replacement parts? I suspect East German or Russian re-work here but more evidence is needed.

Above the left belt loop it appears to have three russian charachters...anybody disagree.....(not the left strap ring loop, but the other left loop for the belt....frame #2)

The weapon to me the 2nd variation of AC42 (about serial number, looking, marks on the mag)
I don't know why numbered the take down lever-I search for another one - If I can.
On the holster above the left belt loop I see "JKB" these are russian charachters?
The WAA number 359 (Erma Erfurt) everywhere on the weapon,I make photo from this if I can make best.
The WAA nnumer on the holster is 179 (Carl Busse Mainz)

Thanks for your work, sorry if the pictures not too good (mainly from the holster), I throwed it to the scanner,I'm not professional photographer.

Looks like it says 8.84.....On second thought, it's probably bore size.....Bodes

Take down levers were never numbered. This was done post war. I would also think the lever was replaced post war due the the condition being much better then the rest of the pistol.

Lots of history with this one. Enjoy it for what it is and have fun shooting.
