    Jnformation about a Luger

    belgrano,

This is/was an original Luger.....it is marked "Germany" so it's marked for export, probably out of Eastern Europe (but marked Germany because that's where it was originally made)....MANY OF THESE ARE TOTALLY REWORKED, REBLUED, and RENUMBERED....I can't tell if this one is or not from these pictures....Also the Imports usually have replaced grips....again, photos too dark to say...but do appear the "Russian versions"....

The Luger is a DWM 1914 from the proofs on the side & barrel but the date has been removed from the receiver.... it appears to have been reblued....

Definately reworked extensively, how badly I can't really tell. Still worth something as a "shooter"....(probably $350./650.00US). If fully original 1914DWM would be 1000./1500. in similiar condition IMO (maybe more!).

Prices are probably differant where you are....if you want a TOP SHELF example...not this one .... if you just want a "luger" (shooter) this one would do (depending on the price!)

Serial numbers and most markings appear pantographed. Looks like virtually all the markings except for the receiver proof and acceptance marks have been removed and renumbered. Grips are aftermarket.

This is in NO way a collector grade firearm. If you're looking for just a shooter this will probably fit the bill.
Just make sure to pay accordingly.
Side note: Next to early Colt revolvers there's probably more crap in the form of humped up Lugers floating around than just about any other firearm.
