    Web PO8 Holster

    Hello collectors,

this holster is for sale on ebay what's your opinion?
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&rd=1&tc=photo

More and more web holster are sold on ebay, so I have my doubts..
Is there someone who has an original web holster for P38 or P08 and wants to share some pics? I'm also interested in how to detect fake ones.

    Best regards,

    FRANK

    Hi Frank,

I really do not know, but as long as it is not specially marked with German manufaturer marks, I think it may be Bulgarian /there are some stamps, but unreadable/. If it is German, it is WWII, if it is Bulgarian, it is probably WWII or early postwar. Blacklight reaction was not different than some WWII junk that I have. Yes, I tried the blacklight, because I am the translator to this auction. The account belongs to a local collector/seller - 10% collector and 90% seller, the items belong to him, the pictures and descriptions are his, I do the translation and the technical work about listing in the net. My "second job" Sometimes I do not like his descriptions, other times it is really sad that the things are being sold, but on the other hand he will sell the things with me or without me, so better with me Back to the holster, I myself would add the doubt, that it is either German, OR Bulgarian, but as already said, this is not up to me. And I usually do not enter arguments about the descriptions and etc., because that second "job" is helpful to me

Almost certainly not German. Probably Bulgarian circa 2003-2004.

I have only seen one original tropical Luger holster that was legit. I don't have any pics of it, since it is not in my collection, however, I have observed it personally. It is your basic run of the mill WWII type leather German made luger holster, that was covered with a greenish-tan webbing all over!

Both myself and the owner of this holster feel that this holster (and pistol), was most likely captured by the British in N. Africa, and the holster was altered by some British trooper. Neither of us believe it to be a German modification.

That is the only one I have seen that is legit. This one on ebay looks as phony as a $3 bill !

          Matt

PS- I would just like to add for all collectors, stay away from stuff on ebay! There is a ton of phony crap on there!
Sure there are a few (very few!) original items on there from time to time, but the prices of these are also highly inflated!

Then, as you say it is not German seems it is Bulgarian /because it is either German, or Bulgarian/.

No, it is not 2003/2004 As told you, I do the translation and the Internet work for the seller of these things, a local seller, so have some idea about those items. It is either WWII, or very early postwar /pre1950/. All his militaria comes from old army stores /I wish I knew exactly where /. He's got VERY good contacts/friendships there and gets really nice things. Best hit was last year, he got this way almost a dozen of WWI esrzaz manliher bayonets of Austro-Hungarian make, which are worth a fortune! Also I think he gets from there nice WWII and even older guns, too, but he makes that busyness on local soil, so my service is not needed and I don't see that stuff.

Hi guys, that stamp inside, unreadable, but still looked familiar to me... So I started looking inside/under some of my junk and very soon found the same stamps!!! Inside my Bulgarian M43 panzercap! So, this is 100% identification for me - WWII vintage, Bulgarian make.

                [Theaodor and Matt,

                Thank's for the info!
The only good web holster I saw were these for the P37H and for the LP42.
Both these holster have leather parts on it, like straps, flaps, arround the stitching and others, wich I miss on this holster.
So I was really sceptical for this one being German too.

                Regards,

                Frank
