    Odd P38 Brown Softshell Holster

    Hey everybody,

I bought an all original AC44 and this was the holster the guy had with it. I have heard 50 different stories from 50 different people. I'm interested to see what some of you experts have to say.

    - Seems to have an aluminum stud
    - No stamps

Please take a moment to look. I just want to know what it is.

    Thank you for your time,

    Brent (North Carolina)

Looks like a HP holster to me? The pouch looks deep. How does the magazine fit?

If you mean hi power, no. Mag pouch is for a single stack mag. Walter HP, I don't have a clue.

I have been told it is an astra 600 holster. I really don't believe so. We put one in it and it didn't fit nearly as well. The mag on the astra sat flush with the top of the mag pouch but flopped side to side.

The p38 mag is about 1/8" above top of mag pouch and fits great.

I'm interested to see some pictures of similar ones. I have seen very similar German holsters but there were slight differences.

Thank you for posting the post war models. Very interesting.
I was told the gun and holster were picked up in France in late 1944. That's the story anyway..

Please let me know of any questions.

          Hi Brent,

I have seen commercial P.38 soft shell holsters that are very similar to that one. Brown and a single belt loop. I have one but my closure strap goes upward like the police holsters.

          Regards, Leon

I'm no expert, but the quality and condition of leather speaks for post-war commercial.
