Dou 1942 k98

[Mons 1914]

DOU K98 manufactured in 1942, it's a Russian capture rifle and uk deact.

Trying to find a decent example is very hard, these are about all you can find now.
Apart from the finish, it seams pretty well made and in good condition.

Comments welcome, but guys in the US please remember you have the pick of such untouchted rifle that we can only dream about..

Has it been cleaned up or just seen light service?

Hi,
A varied selection of serial numbers!
Looks like the S42K barrel band probably belongs with the stock - the flat heelplate disappeared around 1940 - a 42-dated K98k would have a cup heelplate.
Still, as you say, try and find a matching one - it was hard enough 40 years ago!
