Beretta MP38/42

Hello board,

I have the oportunity to buy a Beretta MP.38/42 with fluted barrel.
Serial number CB 9357
Would this be 2nd WW issue?

Italian Beretta MP38/42 in WW2

As I recall. According to W.H.B. Smith's 1955 edition of Small Arms of the World it was used in WW2. The Germans modified it when they took over production. Eliminated the barrel jacket and bayonet lug. Fluted the barrel and added a compensator. Shortened the forward part of the stock back to the magazine well . There were 2 two more changes over the years. The MP38/43 by eliminating the fluted barrel .

The German commercially acquired some MP42 in 1942- 43 when the control was still on Italian hands.
The various models had the name 38/41, 38/42,..... with minor changes, (flutted or smoothed barrels,....) during the years.
