MG-42 lafette for sale on ebay, good?

    Hi all.

I'm looking for a lafette for mg42 and I've seen this:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-GER...item19df6c2cad

Does it look 100% original?, Is it a Yugoslav become German?.

    Thanks, best regards.

Original, just post war Yugo reconditioned. This is what is available more than often.

Original furbished/finish examples are tuff to acquire.

I did see this one it appears to be a re-worked MG34 Lafette, the top cradle fsu markings dont look original to me at all (they were never marked 44 only 1944 or later on in the year they were given a later date code of NC) , the range plate looks repro, using incorrect oversized rivets, and mounted too far to the left. the only thing that looks good is the central frame markings, the alluminium traverse arc, and the correct MG42 bolt box, that bolt box alone is worth £200-250

I agree with Phil: the back cover with the FSU is faked. Original german gone through yugo hands usually have 4 little holes where a plate was riveted. The craddle is certainly MG34 reworked. So it is a mixed up of original german parts, yugo made and yugo made faked to look german.

So the price is high for this lafette?, I am looking for a lafette original, I think an Original lafette is hard to find and this may be a solution.
But I think the price is high for this lafette.

            Thanks for your help

Yes I would stay away form this one not only due to the price but the bad markings, and the seller, he has some other suspicious items (with fake markings) for sale from time to time!!

Helpful discussion. I upload the photos of the Lafette posted on eBay for future reference.

Good idea to post up the pictures Michael!

As for price, it is still made up of mostly original parts I should think but also some yugo parts re-stamped post war. Either way you'd be doing well to get it for 500-600 euro, I would probably have thought around 850-900 euro because as mentioned the some of a few key parts alone adds up to quite a bit!
