1944 k98 laminated stock

Hi all,

I've always wanted a nice original matching numbers K98, but these are VERY hard to find in NZ and usually VERY expensive.

This has come up for sale & I'd like some opinions please.

Seller says....

"1944 German Mauser K98 in excellent condition, beautiful laminated stock. Cal. 8x57mm.

Barrel, receiver, bolt are all matching. Bore is excellent, strong sharp rifling. German Eagles still clearly visible here and there."

what are those 3 things on the left of the number? normaly there should be german eagles right?

it is not original in any way....refinished stock, refinished metal, bolt in the white (which k98s never had), renumbered bolt, idiot marks over the eagles.

Looks to be on par with a mitchell's mauser....aka a steaming pile

Thanks guys. I thought it might have been a Russian capture rifle with those markings...but what were they actually like??

its just how the nazi WaA's were defaced, sometimes they are peened, sometimes they are totally ground off, sometimes they have slashes across them as in this case

I don't see the X of the RCs. Sad, looks like an attempt to make a Mitchel's clone?
