    panzerfaust restoration

hello, how would I go about restoring my panzerfaust, I have auto body filler and the panzerfaust is sandblasted and primed already can I just put the filler on it now or do I have to grind it?

I have never restored anything so any help would be much appreciated as I don't want to ruin the panzerfaust

    thanks

    Hello John,
Are there dents in the tube? If you are just trying to get rid of rust pits I would recommend a high build primer instead of body filler. It is difficult to apply and sand body filler to a properly round tube.

After sandblast/glassbeadblast good primer color underneath.

Then you can start adding layer of filler paste(I use PlasticPadding PP-100,which is micro filler type stuff) or if rust pits are not deep, then i use spray filler(also from Plastic Padding).

Now sandpaper to smoothen surfaces and another layer of primerpaint. -> Paint is good to show which areas need another layer of filler+sandpapering.

After every layer is smooth, then once more primer paint. And after that final paint.

As Ralph told above,it is not easy to make round shape with fillerpaste+sandpaper. But there is various ways:I use myself metal lathe where i can put tubes, projectiles and other such items to rotate. Now it comes easier to make their shape with sandpapering as it should be.Specially easy to simple round tube as Pfausts.

      Here is my next project:
