    G43

    Dear Sirs,

may I have your opinions about this (I assume scarce and early) G43 dated ac43 ?

I am a bit surprised with the high serial number.

Did I missed something ? I though these G43 had only been produced up to approx. 7500 pièces.

Many thanks in advance for the help.

      G43

It appears to me that the rifle has been heavily polished or buffed, perhaps to remove surface rust, but thats an early one not often seen

Many thanks Steve. Should the serial number read for example 8135 i and not 81351 ?

              Hello,

such a high number series does not exist. The last "digit" is a letter.
I know of only one G43 with a 5 digit serial No. It is the 10,000.
I've never seen another G43 with an equal or higher no.

              regards

Okay my source states that the entire maker info is incorrect and restamped so it was probably refinished at the same time, first time hes seen this. Ill give you his info by pm if you want it

In the Veawer book, if I remember well, it is stated that serial numbers are sometimes restamped in order to have the same SN everywhere on the rifle.

The stock does not appear to be laminated and the bolt has been buffed, renumbered and re-blued......The machined edge on the receiver is not crisp, indicating heavy use or buffing......There also appears to be some kind of non-typical proof next to the G43 designation on the receiver (British ?).......Bodes

it is a Belgian deact-marking (lion with crown)
