    Double Claw Sniper ???

Posted this on Gunboards a few days ago, still trying to figure it out. I know it is a Mauser, but not sure what to think about it. Not many visible markings , s/n is 876 on receiver & bolt, claw mounted AJACK 4x90, 2 WaA63's below rear sight. An "L" and "I-66" visible on barrel above wood, under wood " 7.62 " and some strange figures. . . Barrel and rifling condition & bluing is excellent, floorplate and safety #'s do not match. Stock fits great but has no markings at all, does not appear to be sanded though. I would have thought there would be more markings - year made, makers code, etc. Need comments & value opinions also please !! WHAT HAVE I GOT HERE ???

Have learned that the 1-66 may be either date of conversion to 7.62 or riflling twist rate ??

Interesting......... Thought it was a 4x90 scope, looking at the picture I just posted it looks like 4x80 ???? Now I have to go look at gun again.......

It is a 4x90. IMO a postwar build-up, maybe with a leftover scope. I have seen so many 51xxx on commercial mounts, I think there were many leftovers. I know that there are 52xxx mounted on high turret mounts, but I have also noted that scope number does not follow gun number.
