I've sent several lugers and ammo via FEDEX.. it just has to be forwarded to someone with an FFL. with a copy of the lisence in the parcel to be shipped.

thanks for the info. that sucks. if you have to go thru a gun dealer with an FFL then they will charge an acceptance fee so pretty much isnt worth mailing them. oh well. Glenn

          Hi,

I have never heard of the requirement to ship ammo, alone, to a FFL. Is that a specific FedEx policy?

Of course, firearms must be sent to a FFL by any means if going across state lines.

          Regards, Leon

I think the shipping advice re: need for FFL would have been valid prior to the effective date (May, 1986) of the Firearms Owners Protection Act that Ronald Reagan signed into law. While the law did some bad things (i.e. outlawed new MG production for civilians), it did a lot of good such as eliminating the need for use of FFL's to ship ammo in interstate commerce.

I remember as a kid c. 1984, Paragon, Inc. in Illinois had WWII 9mm ammo in the original boxes: I think the price was $5.00 per box. Well, I was (am) in Mississippi so an FFL was needed for the transaction so, after I was able to save up the money to fund the purchase, my dad got a a local FFL to order 4 or 5 boxes for me.

New to me as well. People order ammo online all the time and have it shipped to their home via UPS.
