    P.38 ac41

    Hi,

I am wondering if it would be safe to shoot a few rounds out of an AC41 P.38 (Maybe 50 rounds or so)? I have a friend who has this pistol and he wanted me to ask. The pistol was his grandfathers from when he was in WW2.

Some will say absolutely not. I say so long as it is in good mechanical condition it is safe to shoot them. I use Federal 115 gr to keep the pressure levels low (the original load was a 124 gr).

I would say virtually all are okay to shoot but if he values the gun, I would not. Here is what can happen in some cases and there is no way to tell in advance if it is going to happen.

Same thing happen to me on my AC45 C block mismatch ! if the AC41 all have matching # and had never fire by the current owner I will say to try a magazine of low pressure 115 gr ammo and that is ! quality of P38 are much better in 1941 than 1945 , for better bet buy an extra war time slide and shoot the hell out of it.
