It could have been a bring back from WWI, and if sold later it had to go through either the London or Birmingham proof house, and that one went through the Birmingham Proof House as well as I can tell.

I purchased this 1912 DWM Luger today.The magazine is marked 3722.The writing on the left side of the receiver says;Not English Made.I have researched this gun and found the following:It was probably used in WW1.It was probably picked up by a British soldier.It was then British proofed, stamped GERMAN ,and marked Not English Made.I have seen a few more British proofed Lugers ,on line,stamped German,rather than Germany.It is a nice piece.Here are some more photos that I just took.Attached Files
