It can by going to their site and searching past auctions....lots of interesting prices and I acknowledge the fact that price guides, auctions, etc can fluctuate. Thanks for the commentary though, I did not know the backstory on that.

Yes - the story on the $40k+ MP-40 is true (and the gun was nothing special; just a run-of-the mill C&R with matching numbers and nice original finish). This sale was discussed at length on several MG boards and the consensus was that two (2) bidders with deep pockets just went absolutely crazy and bid the gun up to over twice the maximum FMV you could ever reasonably expect such an item to bring here in the U.S. IMO, this particular auction sale example has zero to do with the gun's actual fair market value, but does very well illustrate that the auction scenario can (and often does) bring out emotions in bidders that cause them to act highly irrationally.

      Here's the link to Cowan's MP-40:

This is a particularly nice example. Judging by the staking on the barrel nut washer, the barrel nut has never even been loosened, so the original factory targeting is probably undisturbed.

Man, I need to get in touch with the losing bidder... I can hook him up!

One day I wish I can be one of those people with more money than brains/time.
