Hi Enzo. i see a nice Mauser MG42 from the end of 1944.I know only one other MG42 from the "e-serial" with the "DF-ar" code.the code "DF-ar" stand for the year 1944 and "DF-dd" stand for the year 1945.the next MG42 which i know is the "DF - 1485 e - dd". so i can say that your MG42 is produced in december 1944.
the receiver comes from the producer "johannes großfuß".it must be marked "bpr-PJ" in the middle of the receiver.between the rear sight and curved piece.
the butt stock, grip stick and flash hider looks good but i miss the transport pawl from the top cover!
please make more photos from all parts and all markings do you can find.so we can say more details over this MG42.when the price is o.k. - take it!

              Hip
              Nice genuine period MG42
I am not upto spec with current deactivation law in EU? But i think its criminal way they have put welding on feed pawls, barrel change latch and what looks like welded bolt into one piece.
The long hollow feed arm is missing from top cover ( you could find another better complete top cover to fix all top cover issues ) the rear anti aircraft sight is missing but that's not unusual.
Still nice mg42 with good visual presents.
              Rob

Awesome! Makes me wish I lived in Eurozone!

In the USA, we can have all the handguns and semi-auto rifles we want but a deact MG will land you in prison unless it is cut to pieces!

Every once in a while, a reassembled MG42 shows up but legality is somewaht questionable!

It looks nice, Austrian used post war, "BH" stamp to the right of "ar" for Mauser on the receiver. You could get a feed lever for the top cover, but the feed pawls, as already stated are welded so you couldn't cock it. Just get a new top cover, job done.
When all is said and done, very nice Mg42. Jonathan.

It's not illegal to own a pre ban MG34 or MG42 in the States as long as you have the proper reg paperwork. Certain states allow full auto while others in semi or dewat condition. I have a uncut dewat MG34 and another friend has one in semi.
It's been illegal to import uncut MGs into the country since the late 90's or so but still perfectly legal to own if you can find one.
This is a great looking MG42 with tripod that makes for a terrific display piece.
I'd go for it since they make great investment potential too.
