Yes these are for the MG42, but if post war could be for the Yugoslavian M53.

thank you. I guess, as with the ammo containers there is no way of telling for sure if Yugoslav or German WW2 made??

I would say there are people who can comment on what it actually is, as there will most likely be a way to tell for sure, WW2 or post-war. However, the sign of no markings at either end, and obvious post war paint, I would say it's post war.
